Safety Most Sought After Community Asset
In a survey by the MPO and MIBOR on “What is important to central Indiana residents” ,75% of the residents survey said that safety was a very important factor in selecting a neighborhood in which to live. Safety was the single most important factor selected in this survey. The March 2013 issue of Indianapolis Monthly magazine rated the safety of many of the neighborhoods and communities in Central Indiana. Reviewing these two reports gives an indication of why the Carmel residential real estate market, and several other markets are so strong. In the following list the larger neighborhoods are ranked in descending order from that Indianapolis Monthly magazine article by number of crime incidents per year per 1,000 populations.
